If you are trying to decide what to do this June Bank Holiday, look no further than the south Kilkenny village of Inistioge.

On Sunday, June 1 there will be fun for all the family all day and well into the night with the Inistioge Summer Festival. There will be children’s activities from your grandfathers’ time, pony rides, stocks, dog show, guess how many balloons in the vintage car. Also a climbing wall, magical mega slide, Velcro Sticky Wall, Rodeo Bull, free bouncy castle, and more.

After last year’s rollin’ success, this year there is again, for the ‘grown ups’ only, the Round Bale Rolling Races! Be sure to bring out your competitive streak.

Last year’s festival saw the introduction of the Vintage Boutique, which this year promises again to have an array of pre-loved garments, full of style, colours, patterns of another era. There will also be every type of accessory from beautiful costume jewellery, handbags, colourful scarves and a large selection of other bits and bobs.

A new addition at this year’s Inistioge Summer Festival will be the Toy Emporium – an Aladdin’s cave of pre-loved toys, books, dolls and teddy bears. There will be a giant 15 foot Straw Teddy Bear in the field, and weather permitting, a Teddy Bears Picnic! There will be prizes for the best dressed teddies.

The air will be filled with the aroma of freshly baked apple tarts, mouth watering queen cakes and sugary homemade biscuits, and of course a nice cup of tea or coffee to wash them down all available at the food market. To finish off the day there will be live music to entertain young and old both on the streets and in the bars.

Entrance to the festival is free for children and €5 for adults. All funds raised go towards offsetting the cost of the Cois Abhann Centre, a joint effort by the Inistioge Community Council and the Rower Inistioge GAA club. The Inistioge Summer Festival is supported by the KLP and is a member of Kilkenny Community Festival Network.
