Cllr Andrew McGuinness
As expected Fianna Fail’s Andrew McGuinness topped the poll in the Kilkenny City East electoral area with 1,373 votes. Son of John McGuinness TD and his father’s parliamentary secretary, he exceeded the quota by 32 votes. Patrick O’Neill and Michael Doyle from Fine Gael will be elected and it is expected that Labour’s Tommy Prendergast should be elected as will Sinn Fein’s David Kennedy with Breda Gardner, the independent in with a shout for the last seat.
