Pat Fitzpatrick has called for the urgent upgrading of the road from Hennebry’s cross to Oldtown, Ballyragett.

Mr Fitzpatrick, a candidate in the local election for the Castlecomer Area of north Kilkenny, says that the condition of this road is a disgrace and is a hazard for all users and local residents.

“Why has Kilkenny County Council and the National Roads Authority neglected this road? It is one of the busiest roads in the County and a vital piece of infrastructure to facilitate the expansion of our dairy industry”, he said.

“Kilkenny doesn’t have many major industries and the expansion of dairying is going to be important to us. The Glanbia plant in Ballyragget will be generating even more traffic as milk expands by up to 50% and council must now make this a priority.”
