This year St Kieran’s College were represented by 10 students on the diocesan trip to Lourdes which took place from May 22nd - May 27th. The purpose of their trip is to help assisted pilgrims from the diocese to and from the religious ceremonies. The youth group play a vital role in this pilgrimage.

Each year to ensure this youth group trip can happen the students must first of all be chosen from their Transition Year classes. This is a difficult task with nearly 30 applicants applying this year for only 10 places. Following on from this is the task of raising funds for the trip. Fund-raising activities arranged this year included a bag-pack in Super Valu, a tag rugby day and a table quiz. Each student is also asked to fundraise in their own parish. The task for 2011 is complete and a safe, enjoyable and productive trip was had by all. Great credit must go to the 10 students for their hard work in their fundraising efforts and the huge effort they put in on the trip.

A special word of thanks to all who donated and supported the fundraising activities, especially Langtons, Super Valu, Vincent McIntyre of The Village Inn and the local parishes for their help and support.
