Local fashion retailers are embracing the up-coming Kilkenny Fashion Week, with 19 department stores and independent boutiques signed up to participate in the opening event that promises to be the biggest fashion show ever staged in the South East.

Top names in Kilkenny fashion have committed to be part of a gala fashion show in Lyrath Estate Hotel on October 10 to open Kilkenny Fashion Week, including Goods, Pauls, Kilkenny Design Centre, Lola Rose, Peaches boutique, Jo Duggan, Sugar Sugar, Sally West, Jeutonic, Michael H, Paco, Heaton’s, Bourke’s, Belle Femme lingerie, Penney’s, Wallis, Rumour, Graham’s and Sabo shoe boutique.

“Everything you will see on the runway – and indeed at all events during Kilkenny Fashion Week – is from and can be bought in Kilkenny. It will be a fantastic showcase for Kilkenny’s retail offering and something we anticipate will actively promote Kilkenny city as a premier destination for shopping,” said Phil Walsh, CEO of Good’s and spokesperson for the Kilkenny City Centre Business Association.

Fashion show producer and stylist Catherine Condell has been tasked with producing the gala show and will arrive in Kilkenny this week for the first of several planning meetings to bring about the Kilkenny Fashion Week opener.

City Mayor Seán Ó hArgáin said Kilkenny Fashion Week represented an “innovative new departure” for local fashion.

“Kilkenny Fashion Week will reconfirm Kilkenny as a destination shopping city and one that represents great style,” the mayor said.

Kilkenny Fashion Week will take place from October 10-13. Proceeds will go to Amber Women’s Refuge, Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team and Cois Nore Cancer Support Centre Kilkenny.
