Texan orchestra to perform locally

THE Project String Power Chamber Orchestra and Soloists, Texas, U.S.A. directed by Leonard Kacenjar will play at two locations in Kilkenny over the coming days and will be accompanied by champion fiddler player Lacie Carpenter.

THE Project String Power Chamber Orchestra and Soloists, Texas, U.S.A. directed by Leonard Kacenjar will play at two locations in Kilkenny over the coming days and will be accompanied by champion fiddler player Lacie Carpenter.

The concerts will take place in the Church of the Assumption, Piltown on July 29 at 8pm with special guests the Sospiro Male Voice Group, Kilkenny and classically trained violinst and fiddler, Lacie Carpenter from the heart of East Texas and on July 30 at St Marys Cathedral.

Lacie has a BA in Music Education with a specialization in Violin Performance and certified to teach and direct several methods,classical, Mark O’Connor method and Mark Wood Rock Orchestra. She was honoured to have a portion of her college education paid by Willie Nelson, through the Buskirk Scholarship. She has won numerous awards a few being, the 72nd Annual World Champion Fiddler People’s Choice Award, 1st place fiddler at several contests and 2012 East Texas Fiddler award and 2012 East Texas Bluegrass award. She loves playing all

styles of music from Bach to Bob Wills. She currently plays and performs with the “Texas Smoke” band at the longest running opry in the State of Texas where she was inducted in the Hall of Fame. Playing the violin/fiddle is more that what she does it is part of who she is. It is in her blood, veins and heart. Lacie said, “Music is a precious gift from God and I want to help bring his jo ythrough music to others.” She added honored to be part of the Project String Project and feels blessed to be playing for the wonderful people in Ireland.
