Jobs at Thomastown’s SuperValu have been secured with the announcement that the shop has been bought by retail group Musgrave, along with the SuperValu in Clonmel.
Together there are 86 jobs at the two outlets.
The two SuperValu stores went into receivership in 2011, and Musgrave had been working with the statutory receiver Declan Taite of RSM Farrell Grant Sparks to keep the stores open.
Musgrave has now completed a deal to buy them, the receiver announced in a statement yesterday (Tuesday).
“This is an extremely positive result for the employees and management of the two supermarkets as the local employment is protected,” the statement said.
Under terms of the deal, all employees have been transferred to Musgrave.
