Crews from Eircom are to work through the weekend to repair faults on the network, with Kilkenny being one of the weather-affected counties.

There are currently over 5,800 faults on the eircom network, and over 3,000 faults were reported yesterday. The continued severe weather conditions are impacting heavily on the eircom network. Both broadband and telephone services are affected.

More than 6,500 faults have been repaired across the country since Monday. Yesterday more than 1,700 customers had service restored.

The damage to the network is extensive and widespread with most parts of the country impacted. Wednesday night’s lighting storms were particularly bad in counties Kilkenny, Wexford, Carlow, Cork, South Kerry, Clare, Galway and Mayo.

Weather conditions remain very difficult especially in rural and upland areas. All available technicians have been diverted onto fault repairs and crews will continue to carry out repair work throughout the weekend.

“We are making every possible effort to restore service to customers who are currently experiencing a disruption to their telephone and broadband service,” said a statement from Eircom.

Customers are reminded, where possible, to log faults on the ‘Log a Fault’ section of website www.eircom.ie/logafault or through our automated customer service line 1901. Faults can be reported to either service 24 hours a day, seven days week.
