Gardai have advised motorists travelling in the New Ross/Rosbercon area to steer clear of New Ross this weekend, unless they are attending the JFK 50 events.

A series of events are taking place in New Ross on Saturday, June 22 as part of the celebrations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the visit of the late US President John F Kennedy to the town. Gardai are advising that motorists who are not attending the festivities in New Ross should, where possible, avoid travelling through New Ross as delays are expected throughout the day.

Organisers are expecting upwards of 20,000 visitors as well as the biggest clan gathering of the Kennedy family with over 30 members of the family due to descend upon their ancestral hometown.

For motorists travelling this route, parking restrictions, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place throughout the day. All restrictions are available on the garda website at www.garda.ie.
