Communications company Vodafone Ireland has improved its mobile voice network across County Kilkenny, providing Vodafone customers with an even better service when on Ireland’s leading network.
Overall, now 95,000 people could benefit from these improvements in areas including Ballyhale, Ballyragget, Callan, Castlecomer, Freshford, Inistioge, Kilkenny City and Mullinavat – as well as locations along areas along the N10 and M9.
Vodafone has commenced a nationwide upgrade of its entire mobile network.
The enhancements of voice services in Kilkenny are the first phase of the upgrade programme in this area. The next phase will see Vodafone bring mobile data services to everywhere in Kilkenny that customers can currently make voice calls.
“The improvements we have already made to the network in Kilkenny will mean customers will have an enhanced voice quality experience and in the coming weeks, high speed data coverage throughout the area,” said Sheila Kavanagh, head of mobile networks at Vodafone Ireland.
Vodafone Ireland has invested €1 billion in Ireland to date and its nationwide network upgrade has been enabled by Vodafone’s acquisition of the largest allocation of spectrum in November 2012. A new network hub has been created where customers can view the level of coverage in their area at www.vodafone.ie/network.
It was also revealed last month that Kilkenny will be the first place in Ireland where Vodafone will unveil its new 4G (fourth generation) mobile service. The company said it hopes to go live with the network in the city in the autumn of this year.
