With the magic of Christmas fading to memories for another year, householders looking to dispose of their trees can do so responsibly at a number of designated points around the county.

Christmas trees may be dropped-off at any of the following locations up until January 19. The recycling service is for householders only. In Kilkenny City, the area is the Dunmore Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre, during normal opening hours.

In the west of the county, options are the Quay Car Park in Thomastown, the Fair Green Car Park in Graiguenamanagh, or adjacent to the bottle banks in Bennettsbridge. In the north, trees can be left at the entrance to Assumption Place in Urlingford, at the Square in Freshford, the Fair Green in Ballyragget or the Castlecomer Council Yard, Donaguile.

Finally, in south Kilkenny the designated areas are outside the new graveyard in Mooncoin, or in the Piltown Pound Car Park.

Trees deposited after January 19 will not be recycled.
