Fergal Kennedy, who has been an active youth worker in Kilkenny for many years, is helping out with the event. The evening will include a presentation, a video on ‘Frontiers of Learning’ and a discussion.

Trained youth animators in many parts of aIreland are currently assisting younger youth to be effective agents for the transformation of their own lives and that of their communities by starting their own neighbourhood youth groups. The groups are geared towards helping 11 to 15-year-olds.

While the programme is inspired by the Baha’I faith, organisers say it is not in the form of religious instruction.

The youth empowerment programme will launch in Kilkenny this Tuesday, January 21 at 7.30pm in the Drum Community Youth Centre at MacDonagh Junction. For more information, contact 086-8122861.
