Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership is organising another walk and morning of activities to kick start your New Year’s resolution.
On January 14, the Operation Transformation National Walks take place at venues all over Ireland. In Kilkenny, the walk is taking place in the Castlecomer Discovery Park at 11am. Participants are welcome to weigh in beforehand and there is also the option of having your walk or run timed!
Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership (KRSP), in conjunction with the Health Promotion Unit of the HSE, is also organising two workshops on the day; the first will cover Motivational Tools for Behaviour Change and and the second workshop will cover that all important topic for the New Year, Nutrition and Weight Management for Healthy Living.
Weather permitting, KRSP will also demonstrate different exercise techniques that can be incorporated into an outdoor exercise routine.
Exercising outdoors is not only free, recent studies have shown that it has the added advantages of increasing energy levels and enhancing mental health benefits. It also provides us with a different and stimulating environment each time.
The benefits of “Green exercise”, in a natural outdoor setting, are most profound among younger people so there couldn’t be a better reason to bring the whole family along. Best of all, the effects are almost immediate!
This is your chance to get out and about and do some walking with your family, friends and community. Turn up on the day at 10.30am in Castlecomer Discovery Park for a 2km walk/run at your own pace.
