REBECCA Daniels from Kells, Co Kilkenny will represent Kilkenny Macra in the annual Blue Jean Country Queen Festival in Athboy Co.Meath on the June bank holuiday weekend.
Rebecca is 29-year-old and is a receptionist. In her spare time she enjoys farming, knitting, walking, and arts and crafts. Rebecca who is a member of Kilkenny City Macra will join the other 24 queens in a fun-filled, action packed weekend. From Friday 1st June when the queens are interviewed on stage in The Old Darney Lodge Hotel,Athboy. Co Meath.
Saturday afternoon will see Rebecca and the other Queens take to the street where there is a craft fair and a carnival which guarantee’s fun and frolics for all the family. While on Sunday the Queens will change from fancy dress to modelling to formal dress all within eight hours!
Among the top national artists on this year’s programme are The All Girl Soul Academy on Saturday night and Waterford Band Lebowski will take to the stage Sunday night along with local favourite Matt Leavy. The presence of Buck Mulligan’s Night Club, The Glenside Ceili Band and The Old Stagecoach during the festival ensures that all tastes are catered for.
Although fun is the name of the game Rebecca and the other Queens will be competing for some wonderful prizes. First prize sponsored by Farrelly Agricultural Contractors is €1500 and the title of Blue Jean Country Queen 2012. The runner-up will receive €750 sponsored by Stephens Cooke & Co while the Queen placed third will receive €350 sponsored by Gilsenan Brothers.
The winner of 2012 Blue Jean Country Queen title will be announced midnight on Sunday 3rd June and will be crowned by reigning queen, Petrice Dineen O’Leary from Co. Cork. They will also received a special commissioned tiara and pearl necklace sponsored by Sara Hunter Goldsmith.
