A LOCAL youth group, Timpeall Cnoc Ceili band, is jetting off to Dagersheim in Germany next week, to play an Irisch Nacht (Irish Night) show with Acorns group, Freshford.

The Acorn group have travelled to this area on a few occasions in recent years to perform their variety show, and this year a group of teenage traditional musicians from Clogh, Lisdowney, Ballyragget, Spink, Abbeyleix ,& Ballyroan have joined the show,

This group of teenagers have been performing together for the past few years and only last year put together the Timpeall Cnoc Ceili band.

The opportunity to travel to Germany has come as a welcome opportunity for this group of young musicians to display their talent and to promote Irish music and culture at this German festival prior to St Patrick’s day.

The 13 piece band will perform some of their regular pieces as a band, but the Acorn group has also kindly rearranged their own show to include smaller groups of the teenagers in their own performance.

The actual show is a musical and cultural trip around Ireland depicting song, dance and prose from Kerry to Donegal and right across the country.
