Anita goes from Piltown to Jamie Oliver's best recipe

A 39 year old South Kilkernny woman recently celebrated her own recipe for success with TV chef Jamie Oliver when she was personally thanked by him for her outstanding contribution to his thriving direct-sales business Jamie at Home.

Anita Oakey from Piltown was recognised by Jamie on stage in the stunning and spectacular surroundings of the art-deco concert hall in the Brighton Dome, this year’s venue for Jamie at Home’s national ‘Jamboree’ event. Partly hosted by Jamie himself, Jamboree was designed to celebrate the achievements of 1,000 Jamie at Home consultants who descended on the cosmopolitan city to take part in the event.

Anita said, “It was an awe inspiring experience to be recognised by Jamie for all my efforts and in such an overwhelming and beautiful place. It was like being in a mini Albert Hall! To be singled out and to receive a personal thanks from Jamie was such a privilege.”

She added, “Jamie’s passion and enthusiasm is infectious and he has definitely inspired me with my own Jamie at Home business. He genuinely wants each and every one of our businesses to succeed, and he is such an inspiration to us all. It was a great day and I only hope the sight of 1,000 women all in one room didn’t frighten him off!"

With sales of more than €15.6 million since the launch in March 2009, Jamie Oliver’s success has certainly rubbed off on one of his most recent business ventures.

Jamie now has more than 3,000 consultants nationwide selling his designer-led Jme collection of homeware products through home parties, and he is passionate about opening up the business opportunity to everyone, regardless of experience. It's a proposition that’s been well received, especially in this economic climate.

People have joined Jamie at Home from all walks of life, whether looking to earn an additional income to support an existing job, or wanting to embark on a new career. Many have been offered a viable business opportunity after redundancy where they needed to earn an income instantly, and it’s also proved an appealing proposition for mums looking to bring in money, but needing a flexible working option around the children.

With many trying to stay on top of their finances in a difficult climate and with household budgets stretched, just by holding two parties a week (that’s 6 hours work), as a Jamie at Home Consultant you could earn an additional €624 commission per month. The flexibility of having parties when you want, where you want means you can hold them in the evening around an existing job or even hold parties in the day, for example, at a Mother & Toddler group – the opportunities for parties are endless. You get out what you put in, so if you work hard, you’ll certainly reap the rewards.
