Camogie girls win under-14 Shield Final
DURROW
THE Harps Camogie Club continued on their winning ways with a great victory over St. Briget’s in the county under-14 shield final held in Ballacolla last week. It was a thrilling game, with the Harps coming out victors by 3-6 to 3-3. Niamh Delaney was presented with the shield by County Chairperson Noreen Whel-an. Well done to the team, panel and the management team for winning the trophy.
The Harps Junior team will play the winners of the Kildare/Westmeath match in the second round of the Leinster Championship on Sunday, October 5. Please come and support this wonderful team as they try to win three Leinster and three all-Ireland titles in a row. More details from the club regarding the venue and time of the game.
FISHING- Durrow and District Anglers wish Pat Dunphy the best of luck over the first weekend in October when he will compete as a member of the Irish Pike Fishing team in the Home Internationals in Northern Ireland. Pat is a top fisherman and is heavily involved in the club as a fisherman, committee member and a water keeper, and no doubt he will represent his club, and his country with distinction.
SOUTH EAST DRAW-Tickets for the Super South East draw are now on sale from the club members and supporters. With over 120 prizes, this draw is great value and is well worth 40 euro per ticket for four major draws and two special draws. The first draw is on the first Friday in November and if you are approached to buy a ticket, do so with two things in mind: Firstly, you could win a prize; Secondly, you are helping to raise funds for the Lions soccer club who are providing top-class facilities for over 200 members.
BRIDGE-Durrow Bridge Club will resume their weekly game after the summer recess on Wednesday, October 1, at 8pm in the Presentation centre. All are welcome.
LOTTO - The Parish Lotto with a jackpot of 2,500 euro was not won. Winner of 30 euro Illyannida; 25 euro B.Healy; 20 euro N. Shortall.
The Lotto of October 6 will be held in O’Connell’s, Cullohill, with a possible jackpot of 2,800 euro. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw.
SOCCER - The Lions A team had a great victory over Dean Celtic in the Pat Maher Shield on Sunday. Scorers for the Lions were Aidan Keenan (2), John Brophy, Niall Brophy and Michael Dooley.
The Lions B team defeated St. Pat’s 3-1 in a league game. Training is on every Tuesday and Friday nights.
WHIST-Killermogh Parish Whist Drives will resume on Thursday, October 2 in the Parochial Hall, Cork Road at 9pm. All card players are welcome. A great night is guaranteed with good prizes.
LITTLE OAKS - The Little Oaks Parent and Toddler Group have vacancies for more parents and children at their weekly meetings in the Present-ation Centre.
The meetings are held on Tuesday mornings from 10am until 12noon. The meetings are open to parents and preschool children from 0 to 5 years old.
It gives the children an opportunity to make friends before school and it helps parents to share their problems and meet in a friendly atmosphere. All for only 3 euro per family.
