Hundreds of people attended the funeral of 28-year-old Bairbre Lonergan in her home town last Saturday in what people described as the 'biggest funeral ever in the town'.

The young woman had been holidaying in Spain with two friends and flew back to Dublin on Monday. She became unwell and was found dead the following day.

Friends have paid tribute to her saying that she was 'outgoing, popular and very relaxed'. "She was a happy go lucky person, just a pleasure to be around," one friend said.

A tribute page in honour of the young woman who graduated with a degree in law and recently completed a post graduate course in business studies has been set up on the social networking site, Facebook.

One tribute read:"You are such a lovely, warm hearted, bubbly person. I loved chatting to you anytime I met you, such an interesting person." A local person also posted: "She will be sadly missed, she always put a smile on my face when she came in to the shop."

Bairbre is the daughter of Doctor Val Lonergan and Doctor Marian Tierney and is sister to Bill and Roisin.
