Croker wedding for happy couple

HISTORY will be made when an avid hurling fan celebrates his wedding at Croke Park on the weekend after Kilkenny's historic five in a row performace.

Dublin-based barrister Michael Murray who is originally from Ballyragget and is well known in legal circles on the South Eastern Circuit will enjoy a lavish wedding reception at the Hogan Mezzaine Suite at the stadium on September 10. The venue also has a special sporting significance for his bride to be Helen Carpenter who comes for Dublin and is hopeful that her native county will be competing in the All-Ireland football final the weekend after the wedding.

“We were looking at wedding venues on the internet and we realised that Croke Park did them. From then on itt was a natural choice. We will both be going up to support Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final on the Sunday. We will be excited enough with the prospect of the wedding but coupled with the possibility of a five in a row it will be incredible. I’m sure the wedding reception will be an amazing experience and will be great fun,” he added.

When asked to rate Kilkenny’s chances at making GAA history Michael said he was ‘confident’ that they would. “With Helen being from Dublin and me from Kilkenny it really would be special if both our native counties won All-Ireland title the same month we celebrated our wedding there,” he said.

Michael’s parents Anthony and Stella will be among 200 guests who will attend the reception. “We are getting our wedding pictures taken on the pitch, the problem will be keeping the rest of the guests off the pitch, “ added Michael.

The couple will get married at the Church of St Brendans in the Malahide Road in Dublin and their reception will take place afterwards in the Hogan Mezzaine Suite at Croke Park Stadium.
