Disqualified for failing breath test

A MOTORIST who was convicted of failing a breath test was fined €250 and banned from driving for four years at Kilkenny Court.

Eamon O’Shaughnessy, 4 Robertshill, Circular Road was convicted of the offence at Kilkenny Garda Station on May 23. The court heard at 2.05am gardai were on patrol when they observed the vehicle, which failed to indicate. “The garda spoke to the driver and observed that his speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed over. When asked if he had consumed alcohol the defendant told gardai that he hadn’t since 11.30pm the previous evening. The defendant failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and brought to Kilkenny Garda Station where he failed to provide a sample. Judge David Anderson fined him €250 and banned him from driving for four years.
