Frighteningly successful film-making

THE Young Irish Film Makers' summer camps were such a success this year that the YIFM are now planning to host further camps for Halloween.

Involving those aged 8-18, the camps brought together over 90 young people to have lots of fun making movies. In total, 14 short films were produced over the three weeks, with the young people getting to create their own script, shoot their own movie and attend their very own premiere.

Stories were created from scratch each week with subjects ranging from The Chair of Wonder (the story of a young girl who buys a chair that can do absolutely anything) to The ‘H’ Factor (a heaven-versus-hell battle settled with an X Factor-style dance-off).

Each week finished with a premiere-style showing of the week’s work, with the hall in YIFM transformed into their very own cinema, complete with big screen, booming sound system and popcorn for everyone. The films can now be seen online at www.vimeo.com/yifm.

Young Irish Film Makers now plan to run a Halloween Film Camp in October during the mid-term break with a scary movie theme. So anyone who’s up for some fake blood and spooky soundtracks can contact YIFM on 056 7764677 to book a place.
