Kilkenny has two new entries in the Bridgestone Top 100 Places to Stay in Ireland 2012.

The “Inn @ Ballilogue Clochán” (Inistioge) and “Mount Juliet” (Thomastown).

“Pat McCarthy’s makeover at The Inn is a wow! Both vernacular and cutting-edge, the style is pure bliss,” remark the Guide authors, food writers, John and Sally McKenna. The Inn is also listed as one of the ‘top 10 venues with a great modern address’.

“Nobody is trying harder to be their best than the crew at beautiful Mount Juliet,” say the McKennas. “Manager William Kirby and his cheffing trio are determined to give us the best that they’ve got. In the past we simply sidelined Mount Juliet as a plush hideaway for golfers with too much money.”

Ballyogan House (Graiguenamanagh) again features amongst the Best 100 Places To stay in Ireland – bringing the tally for Kilkenny county to three.

Kilkenny has two of Ireland’s Top 100 restaurants with Campagne and Zuni listed in the Bridgestone 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland 2012 . Campagne also features in the Top 10 “Great ‘Him n Her’ Places” as it is run by foodie power couple, Garret Byrne and Brid Hannon.

The Bridgestone 100 Best guides are published by Estragon Press and have won the international André Simon and Glenfiddich Awards, and the first Slow Food Ireland Media Prize. The Guides cost €12 each.
