Kipper would have been proud - Ned Egan

THE launch of the Kipper Foundation to combat rural isolation was huge success over the weekend. There was massive crowd in Power’s of Tullaghlought for the luanch of tbe grouop set up in memory of Kipper Phelan who died tragically last summer. Ann Marie O’Riordan contributed her lovely singing voice and Ann Houlihan of Windgap collected E100 on the street before the event even started. other contributors to the night were Paddy Dermody, John Ryan, Paney Bartley, Seamus Davis, Martin O’Shea and Michael Moroney. So many musicians and so packed that the Dunnes of Kells, Mick O’Shea, and Paddy Foran couldn’t even get to the microphone, more’s the pity.

The night also the launch of Ned Egan’s book of short stories, Tales Of Old Ireland and Australia. The book, an absorbing read is available at Stonehouse Books, Kieran Street; Kilkenny, Easons at McDonagh Junction, The Book Centre, High Street, Kilkenny; Kerwicks and Supervalu in Callan; Centra and Alice’s shop in Mullinavat. PO. Ned Egan was delighted with the turn out and said Kipper would have been proud.
