Man hospitalised after Callan burglary
A Callan man is recovering after he was assaulted in his home in the early hours of Thursday morning.
At 3.15am on Thursday, September 26 a Collins Park resident disturbed two thieves who had broken into his home. The man, who is in his forties was attacked by the two suspects and required hospitalisation for minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital. The two thieves escaped with some electrical equipment and a small amount of cash.
On the same night, the local St. Brigid's College was ransacked. The front offices were badly damaged when doors were smashed and filing cabinets were torn asunder. It appears the entrants failed to get anything for their efforts but certainly caused a certain amount of damage.
It is known that CCTV footage is being studied so hopefully this will help in Garda investigations. On the same nigh,t intruders were disturbed at a public house in the town, when a security light came on and the owner of the premises saw activity to the rear of his premises.
