Massive turn out for model search auditions
AT 2pm on Saturday, a queue of eager model hopefuls awaited the start of the 2010 MacDonagh Junction Model Search auditions.
There to cast an appraising eye over the potential of more than 60 models from KIlkenny and the South East were Hype Model Management's Karen Morrissey and Laura Keys from the Kilkenny People.
Men, women, teenagers and children travelled from far and wide - some even as far as Westmeath - to take part in the open casting call in a bid to be chosen for MacDonagh Junction's upcoming Spring Fashion Show on April 15.
The lucky models, who will be selected this week, will receive training from Hype Model Management before their stint on the catwalk, wearing the new season's latest outfits from labels such as River Island, Next, Mexx, Sasha and TX Maxx.
This is the second year of the model search and word had obviously spread, as the queue which had formed well before 2pm did not diminish until well after 4.30pm.
Karen was clearly impressed with the turn-out which showed up some definite potential models of the future.
"There are definitely five or six girls who I would say yes to straight away but we'll have a good look at everybody who came out and stood waiting in the cold," she said.
