Nursing home director willing to return home
A MOTHER and daughter who ran Avondale Nursing Home have said that they will return to Kilkenny to be interviewed by gardai if required to do so.
Miriam and Hayley Holmes left the country last July after the nursing home amid allegations of theft and patients being discharged in an unsafe manner.
Solicitor, Patrick Moylan who is acting of behalf of the women said that his clients deny any allegation of theft or any other criminal activity. “They are willing to co operate with the gardai but they have not been contacted by them seeing an interview. If necessary they will come back to Ireland and will assist in any way that they can,” he said.
A garda spokesman confirmed that the garda investigation is ongoing.
The nursing home was permanently closed on August 2 after an inspection by watchdog Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). Miriam Holmes and her daughter, Hayley are blaming “financial difficulties” on the facility’s closure.
The pair moved to Melbourne in Australia where they were working for another nursing home for a number of months until their employment was terminated in recent weeks.
