Petmania superstore to create ten new jobs

Petmania, Ireland’s largest pet specialist retailer and Kilkenny company is to open its new flagship store at Kilkenny Retail Park at the end of the month and create ten new jobs in Kilkenny.

Kilkenny’s pet owners will be long familiar with the brand, owned and operated by the O’Keeffe family, which has been trading on John Street for years now.

In 2005, the O’Keeffe family began to expand its operations, opening their first pet superstore in Waterford. From there, Petmania has grown from strength to strength, and the company now has 11 superstores around the country.

Opening its doors in late September the 8,100 sq ft store will offer a full range of accessories for dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, small animals, fish and wildlife. The store will allow carry a wide range of cold water, tropical and marine fish and a fully equipped dog grooming studio.

Managing Direct of Petmania, Shane O’Keeffe, said “Our customers have been extremely loyal over the years, and we owe our ongoing success to the fact that they keep coming back. We have been promising them a bigger and better store for a few years now, and we are really excited about the prospect of introducing our home town to our superstore format”. The loyalty of Petmania customers helped the company survive examinership earlier this year.

The opening of the new store further confirms the O’Keeffe family’s commitment to the business, and should settle the nerves of any customers still concerned as to its future.
