GOLFERS at Gowran Park are gearing up for a great weekend of celebrations as the club gets ready to celebrate its tenth birthday.

Both course and club have matured since it opened in August 2001. The course has provided a great test of golf, with standards being surpassed year on year. The club has also performed very well over years, with back to back Provincial Towns Cup wins 2006 and 2007 and the Barton Cup in 2009.

Not to be outdone the ladies teams are also performing very well on the inter-club front. Presently they are at the quarter-final stage of the Miele Trophy against Wicklow.

Members are invited to play the weekend competition on Saturday or Sunday free of charge. Visitors can play in the Open Singles competitions, which will run across the entire Bank Holiday Weekend for E10 per person (re-entry allowed). Timesheets are now available from 056-7726699.

The birthday celebrations will culminate after the President’s Prize on Saturday, August 20, with a social evening following the golf.
