Club reviews successful season

THERE was a good attendance for the annual meeting of the men’s section of Callan GC. Outgoing captain, Robert Woodcock, thanked everyone who made this year such a successful one.

THERE was a good attendance for the annual meeting of the men’s section of Callan GC. Outgoing captain, Robert Woodcock, thanked everyone who made this year such a successful one.

Officers elected for 2012 were: captain Sean Walzer, president John Grace (Kilkenny), vice-captain Paul Cashin, men’s secretary Alan Brett, competition secretary Dwayne Martin, handicap secretary Seamie Bergin, PRO Denis Carey, junior officer Joe Cuddihy. Committee: Sean Brett, Richie McMahon, Mick Murphy (Kells), Ian Fitzpatrick, Mick Byrne, Jeff Lynch, Robert Woodcock.

Incoming captain Sean Walzer said he was looking forward to 2012. He asked all members to continue their support of the club as they have over the last 12 months, helping with the lotto and volunteering in any capacity.

POKER - The Poker Classic has been postponed until the New Year. A new date will be confirmed shortly.

NEWS SHEET - In the news sheet which was sent out to members with their annual subscription notice, there was misprint in relation to the junior Ladies captain for 2012. Emma Kerwick will be captain next year, with Caoimhe Murphy the junior lady Golfer of the Year for 2011. LADIES - Owing to the frosty weather there was a shotgun start to Ladies Christmas prize competition. Despite the cold conditions there was a good turn out, with 48 ladies competing.

Following the golf Eileen Cuddihy awarded the silver medal to Breda Ryan, bronze medal to Mary Norton and the silver spoon to Sheila Kirby. The re-entry competition was won by Linda Adaire.

Rita O’Neill announced the names of the ten women who qualified for the final round of the Winter League. Details are posted in the locker room.

LOTTO - There was no winner of the golf club lotto. Numbers drawn were 14, 17 and 20. Lucky dip winners were Edward O’Brien, Rose Walzer and Anna Holohan. Sellers’ prizes went to Mary Norton and John O’Neill.

Next week’s jackpot will be E950.
