Ladies put in valiant effort in Doyle event

The ladies team from Castlecomer put up a fine performance in Carlow in defense of the title which they won last year in the Valerie Doyle competition.

The team of Breda Phelan, Nuala Mahon and Ann Ring came a very close second, just two shots behind winners Abbeyleix. The competition was held on Wednesday of last week in Carlow.

Open Week was in full swing last week and the ladies enjoyed the best of the sunshine for their competitions. The scores were amongst the highest this year in ’Comer.

Best on the day was Betty Byrne with an excellent score of 40 points, followed closely by Honoria Fogarty with 38 points. Names are currently being taken for the mixed and details of the Vice Captain’s trip to Dun Laoghaire are posted in the locker room.
