The men’s Open 18 hole singles will continue on Saturday and Sunday, April 14/15, 21/22 and 28/29.

The Open three person team event will be played on Monday. Any combination, 30 euro per team.

SOCIETY RATES: The club have competitive deals for Golf Societies in which groups can book golf, buggies and food. There is a package to suit all requirements. Check website for the deals.

LADIES: This week marked the start of the inter-club ladies competitions. The minor team scored a great win over Portlaoise in Abbeyleix with Delia O’Donoghue sealing victory in the last match. They play Rathdowney in the next round.

The Challenge team fought a great battle but unfortunately were beaten. This is the end of their involvement but well done to Mary Corcoran, Marjie Gannon, Margaret Conway, Margaret O’Keeffe and Jean Jackman.

Hard luck to Margaret Furlong and Maria Downey on losing in the Daily Mail competition against Mountrath. In the Peugeot qualifier Mary Brophy and Caroline Conway qualified for the area final on July 26 in the Hermitage, Dublin.

INCENTIVE: Any new full member who joins Castlecomer golf club in 2012 may join for three years for the price of two years, 500euro per year for the next three years. Offer applies for 2012 applicants only.

Distance membership permanent residence now reduced from 70km to 50km is 325euro.
