Golfers make good use of good weather

THE ladies in the club have been making the most of the recent dry spell. Team managers have been picked and are putting their panels together for the forthcoming matches which are all to be played at neutral venues. All fixtures are on the ILGU website.

A good number of beginners turned up for the first event on Sunday. Lessons are being organised, but more new members are welcome. Contact Catherine at the club, tel 056-4441139.

The Tuesday nine-hole competitions are varied and are open to both men and ladies. Draw times are 10am, 2 and 3.45pm at present, with later times to come as the evenings get longer.

TEAM - A three person open invitation team event will be held tomorrow (St Patrick’s Day). Teams of three are E10. Timesheet available.

DIARY - Forthcoming fixtures include the open 18 hole singles (GOY) competition this weekend, as well as the 18 hole GOY competition, sponsored by Gerrie Dunne Builders, Carlow, March 26/27. The nine-hole singles competition (ladies and men) continues on Tuesday.

DISTANCE - Full distance membership is available at Castlecomer GC. This option is open to any person living 70km from club, and provides full GUI/ILGU handicap, as well as full access to course at all times and club competition eligibility.
