Ladies ready for Louth challenge

ALL roads will lead to Ardee, Co Louth as the Castlecomer ladies team prepare to contest the semi-finals and finals of the All-Ireland ladies junior foursomes competition on Friday.

The ’Comer team have done the club proud and are gearing up for hopefully further success in Ardee. The team who qualified featured Betty Owens, Margaret Furlong, Theresa Manning, Ita Madigan, Joan Brennan and Eileen Fogarty. Other players on the panel are Kathleen Ryan, Mary Murphy, Nuala Mahon and Mary Brophy. Manager is Emer Foley.

People intending to travel are asked to note that the team’s tee time is early on Friday.

LADIES – Queries regarding the ladies trip to Mount Wolseley on Saturday, September 24 can be forwarded to Helen Dunne. A large crowd has already been confirmed so a good day out is expected.

FUND-RAISER – The Open club fund-raiser will be held on Friday and September. Cost of entry is E50 per team of three (full handicap).

Prize categories will include seniors (over-60), all-ladies team and non-GUI teams.

The seniors will hold their annual dinner on Friday, November 25.

SPECIAL – Castlecomer GC have introduced a special offer which is open to all non-GUI members. A five-day membership (Monday to Friday) is available at the club for E230.

LOTTO – There was no winner of the club lotto jackpot. Draw prizes went to: E100 Aisling Fitzpatrick; E70 John Bergin; E30 Jo Brophy. Sellers’ Lucky Dip E30: John Shore, Michael Brennan.
