BUDDING cyclists are invited to get on their bikes and join the Marble City Cyclers on their new season of beginners’ spin.
The popular series will begin on Monday and has the same format as last year. Cyclists will meet every Monday at 7pm at the Castle Gates, with spins continuing right throughout the Summer and into Autumn.
The first couple of Mondays will feature some practical skills training with newcomers. After that there will be regular spins of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours (light permitting) at a pace that will suit beginners. The plan is to gradually bring the group along over the Summer, increasing pace and distance week by week. Complete beginners are advised to start from week one as everyone will be starting at a similar level.
All participants must have a road-worthy bike and a helmet. Cyclists are also advised to have a couple of spare tubes, tyre levers and a pump with them.
Non-club members are welcome, but participants are reminded that they take part at their own risk. If cyclists intend to participate regularly, it is recommended to become a member of the club as it comes with Cycling Ireland Membership, which provides a level of insurance cover.
