Four competitions were competed for last week at Mount Juliet golf club with three scratch competitions and a member/guest fourball all played for on the one day, Wednesday.

Play in the three scratch competitions was off the white tees and good scores were returned in each event. The Senior Scratch competition, handicaps 0 to 4, was won by Lee McMullan with a gross score of 75. A similar score won the Junior Scratch competition, handicaps 5 to 10, for John Howard.

The Intermediate Scratch competition, handicaps 11 to 16, was won by Mark Tobin with a score of 86 gross. The CSS for all three competitions was 75.

This was the first time Mount Juliet held such competitions and they might prove in time to be annual events.

The member/guest fourball was won by two Clonmel players with a score of 43 points. They had a shot in hand over their nearest opponents.

Sunday sees another ‘major’ down for decision with the J.B. Carr Trophy for men and ladies scheduled to be played. This competition will carry valuable golfer of the year points.
