THE American tournament continues to dominate the courts at Kilkenny Tennis Club, with a full entry list for the recent competition.

Such is the popularity of the event, organisers had to turn players away from the last tournament.

Players interested in competing in this week’s event are reminded to get their names down on the sheet as early as possible. Entry can also be made by texting Brian Doyle at 086 -714941.

Two very competitive sections were set up for last week’s event. The format was the best of five games with no advantage. Some great net play saw Nicky Reade and her partner Ivan Morrissey narrowly win section one. Runners-up were Pat Brett and Lexie Trait. This was a very tight section, with only a few points separating the top three.

Section two saw a familiar name, Monica Skehan, take the main prize. Monica and her partner Tim Brennan played some very solid tennis to earn a deserved win. Padraig Moore and Elaine Brett put up a good fight to come in at a close second.
All courts are reserved for the tournament on Friday from 7.30 to 10pm.
