WHILE THE Senior Open Week championships may be finished for another year the weekly tournaments continue to run at Archersfield.

Held every Friday night, these tournaments provide tennis players with an opportunity to sample the enhanced playing facilities at Kilkenny Tennis Club and to get a feel for the game.

Tom Madigan joined forces with Val Nolan to take the coveted first prize in Friday’s tournament. John Woodcock and Phil Keneally put up some sturdy resistance to seize second place. On the previous week the Keohane family were out in force and had a serious input to the event. Johnny O’Brien and Joe Keohane proved to be an efficient partnership in acquiring the top prize. Not to be outdone Sue Keohane, partnered by John Fogarty, was unlucky to be pipped at the post by the slenderest of margins.
