Tennis ticking over

A great night of tennis was had in the weekly Friday night tournament. Organised by Brian Doyle, 16 players took the Archersfield courts for an entertaining series of games.

In section two, Honor and Susan Deevy took top spot with 18 points, while Claire Delaney and Louise Herity were second with 15pts.

In section one Tom Madigan and Kieran Dunne were winners with 22 points, beating Ken Bartley and Rueben Holden in the final.

In the men’s singles section one Eoin O’Connor was the runner-up, with the number one spot going to Jack Byrne. Joy Cox beat Ailish Scott in the ladies decider.

P.J. Trait clinched the section two title while Ann Jones won the ladies equivalent.

Rory Hogan won the Irish junior close singles under-12 in Rushbrook at the weekend. The win was even more remarkable as he has missed most of the season through injury.

Reminder: All Midsummer Madness matches must be played by August 31.
