Eyes on the ball!

Aaron Molloy (Freebooters A) shields the ball from Robbie Kavanagh (Thomastown United A) during their Premier Division clash on the Fair Green. The game was one of three played on Sunday (a game had also been played on Friday) as the Kilkenny & District League’s junior soccer season got off to a flying start over the weekend. Freebooters and Thomastown United will be two of the sides expected to challenge Evergreen A for the league title this year, with both sides doing their best to deny the team from the Kells Road a fifth successive Premier Division crown. For the record, ’Booters won Sunday’s game 3-0 thanks to goals from Dessie Hayes (2) and Michael Falsey. Both teams have further matches this Friday and Sunday.
