The Kilkenny & District League’s women’s team will begin their Leinster inter-league campaign this weekend.

The Cats travel to Castledermot on Sunday (kick-off 2pm) to play the hosts in their first game of the competition. Managers Davy Foley and Fran Egan have named the following 18-strong matchday squad for the game: Irene Guilfoyle, Jemma Komar, Ann-Marie O’Neill, Breda O’Neill, Jennifer Russell (Tullaroan); Aine Lannon, Caoimhe Shiels, Jenny Reddy, Laura Dooley, Jenny Brennan, Niamh Bolger (East End United); Dorothy Carroll (Piltown); Philomena Murphy, Aoife Dunne, Joanne Barcoe (Bridge United); Sonya Buggy, Kirsty Maher (Evergreen); Demi Donovan (Newpark).

The squad will have its final training before the game this Friday at 9pm in Derdimus. The team bus will leave from the Water Shed at 11am on Sunday, with all 24 squad players to attend. “The girls have given their all in preparing for this game,” said Fran Egan. “Everyone is looking forward to it.”

FAI Junior Cup

The draw has been made for the fourth round of the FAI Junior Cup. Ties featuring Kilkenny & District League clubs are: Evergreen v Woodstock Celtic or New Ross Celtic, St Peter’s v Freebooters, Fort Rangers or Arklow Town v Gorey Rangers, Freshford Town v Thomastown United or Castle Villa.

Ties will be played on the weekend of November 23/24.
