Clubs prepare for Mock Lawlor Cup

THE Kilkenny & District League have made the draw for their annual Mock Lawlor Trophy competition.

THE Kilkenny & District League have made the draw for their annual Mock Lawlor Trophy competition.

The charity event, which raises funds for local causes, will see teams from across the South-East compete in the pre-season tournament from the end of July.

The competition begins on Monday, July 29 when Evergreen take on Carrick United. Freebooters and McCalmont Cup champions Newpark will also feature, as well as Clonmel Celtic, Bagenalstown, North End United and Peake Villa.

Each club may use a panel of 16 players on the night with rolling subs allowed throughout the game. Games will be 90 minutes in duration and will go straight to penalties in the event of a draw. All games will be played at the Fair Green and officiated by members of the Kilkenny branch of the Irish Soccer Referees Society, with all proceed going to a local charity.

Wednesday, July 31

Clonmel Celtic v Bagenalstown, 7.15pm.

Thursday, August 1

Peake Villa v North End United, 7.15pm.
