It’s as you were for the Kilkenny & District League - but only after a replay.
This year’s annual gathering grabbed the attention after the first meeting descended into chaos when several committee members walked out.
The meeting, which was held in the Springhill Court Hotel on Thursday, was adjourned with all members instructed to reconvene on Monday.
The annual business review was held over two nights after the initial meeting had to be adjourned following a lengthy discussion over the process involved in the election of officers.
The discrepancy arose in relation to the voting process. Quoting the League’s rulebook, one section of the floor believed that each team represented was entitled to three votes, while traditional League protocol followed the three votes per club path.
The confusion began after the committee was dissolved and nominations were taken for the election of League secretary. Both parties nominated, Paschal Bergin and the outgoing secretary Tom Mullins, then withdrew their nominations before a 10-minute adjournment was called for to help matters.
While efforts were made to continue proceedings, club delegates were forced to scrap the meeting after outgoing chairman John Corrigan was hesitant to retake his position on the night.
A bumper crowd was in attendance when the meeting reconvened at the same venue on Monday night, where proceedings were dealt with swiftly.
Quoting Rule 13A, the League Management Committee declared that, with no nomination received 21 days prior to the annual meeting, all outgoing committee members were re-elected.
