Young Players of the Year announced

THE Kilkenny & District League has announced the winners of the Player of the Year awards for their schoolboy and schoolgirl leagues.

THE Kilkenny & District League has announced the winners of the Player of the Year awards for their schoolboy and schoolgirl leagues.

There was a good spread of winners this season, with players from 10 different clubs among the 15 award recipients which covered the under-11 to under-17 leagues. Evergreen had the most with four, closely followed by Thomastown United (three).

Winners were:

Under-11 Nolan Jewellers League: Division One - George Murphy (Freebooters). Division Two - Cian Franey (Freshford Town). Division Three - Eoghan Hogan (Paulstown 06).

Under-12 Glanbia League: Division One - Colm Whelan (Thomastown United). Division Two - Eoghan Doheny (Lions).

Under-13 Kilkenny People League: Division One - Daithi Barron (Thomastown United). Division Two - Kyran O’Sullivan (East End United).

Under-14 Girls’ League: Olivia Nolan (Evergreen).

Under-14 Bennettsbridge Parts League: Division One - Peter Henebry (Evergreen). Division Two - Gary Lawlor (Bridge United).

Under-15 St Canice’s Credit Union League: Division One - Aidan Tuohy (Evergreen). Division Two - Sean Feehan (Deen Celtic).

Under-16 Girls’ League: Nessa Griffin (Thomastown United).

Under-16 TC Tyres League: Gaby Lapuste (Evergreen).

Under-17 TC Tyres League: Emmet Nugent (Fort Rangers).

The winners will be presented with their prizes at the League awards night, which will be held in the Springhill Court Hotel on Friday, June 8.
