Blessed with good weather for the most part, all present from the 6 - 13 yrs boys & girls, the brilliant juvenile coaches & the `old reliables` had an incredible week which will stay long in the memory of an otherwise `damp` summer of 2012. Midweek, a very proud county club hurler, Cillian Buckley accompanied by fellow county star Michael Rice excited the kids with their good humour, unending autograph signing and their display of hurling skills - what a moment in the Boro. Friday morning saw county goalie David Herity & Paddy Hogan woo the excited kids & some juvenile coaches !. To conclude a fantastic week, miniblitzes, a BBQ & refreshments for all brought down the curtain on the `best week of the summer of 2012`. Huge thanks must go to camp co-ordinators, Gráinne & John Timmons, seventeen incredible juvenile coaches from the GAA & Camogie club and stalwarts, Mick Byrne, Tony Dunning, Joe Phelan & others who all played their part in a brilliant & most enjoyable Dicksboro club event - here`s to 2013 !

Dicksboro Golf Classic- Congrats to Seamus Rochford & his team in organising a hugely successful rescheduled annual golf classic last Friday (3rd August).

Over 60 teams played with the weather holding up on both Thursday evening & all day Friday. Again the Dicksboro juvenile golfers also took part in the early morning - a brilliant innovation to the classic. When all the balls were struck, some lost ,some found and the scores totted up, the winning team of 2010, comprising Victor Smyth, Sheila Brennan & Ken Hovenden swooped to victory on a final score of 83 points. The winning juveniles were : Thomas Kenny, Edward Moylan, Aidan Nolan & Conor Doheny, who thoroughly along with all the other juveniles enjoyed the experience. Huge thanks to all teams, tee box sponsors & Kilkenny Golf Club for the magnificent days golf in the Dicksboro social & fundraising calendar. See www.dicksborgaa.com for a full list of golf prize winners.

Under 16- Don’t let the final score of Dicksboro 4-16 Glenmore 2-10 fool you, this was a hard fought and close contest between these two teams in the preliminary round of the Duggan Steel Hurling Championship. The ‘Boro lads opened up a commanding lead in the first half, winning by 1-8 to 0-1 after twenty four minutes but a couple of pointed frees from Glenmore and a goal with one minute of normal time remaining in the half kept them in the game, HT Dicksboro 1-10 Glenmore 1-3. The second half saw a much more determined Glenmore side as they kept eating into the ‘Boro’s lead and by the time twenty two minutes had passed, they had brought the game back to a two point difference, Dicksboro 1-15(18) Glenmore 2-10(16). It was time for a ‘Boro reaction and that is exactly what we got, scoring 3-1 from play in the last eight minutes. We will now face O’Loughlin Gaels in the quarter final which is currently scheduled for this Sunday in Clara at 7pm.
