Presentation Convent NS Castlecomer is set to hold an information evening tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm for the parents of all incoming pupils in September 2012.

The evening will showcase some of the school’s resources and facilities as well as familiarising parents with the work of the school and what they and their children can expect from this crucial first year in school. All who have enrolled or are considering enrolling their child in the school are encouraged to attend.

The school is meanwhile celebrating some of its young award winners, as a large number of the school’s pupils attended the Scríobh Leabhar and Write A Poem Award ceremonies with teacher Michelle O’Sullivan in The Watershed on May 18.

The children received certificates, medals and prizes for their achievements in both competitions, which are organised by Kilkenny Education Centre. The poetry award winners also had their poems published in a book produced by the Education Centre to mark the event.

Meanwhile the Scríobh Leabhar award winners will have their books published on a DVD produced nationally by Foras na Gaeilge.

The second- to sixth-class pupils and teachers also had a great day out on their recent school tour to Dublin. Starting with a stop at the Aquatic Centre for two hours of swimming, sliding and splashing fun, after a nice lunch it was on to the wax museum for second and third class and to the Dáil in Leinster House for fourth, fifth and sixth classes.

There the girls were greeted by Deputy Ann Phelan and shown around the Dáil chamber and Senate. A lovely dinner followed in the Dáil canteen.
