Festival of Activities for Older Adults-Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership are hosting an Older Adults Festival in the Watershed, Kilkenny on Thursday October 4. There will be a range of activities on offer to sample including Bowling, Skittles, Pilates and Fit Walk among others. All activities are free of charge. On Friday October 5, there will be a FREE pool session for older adults from 2pm. to 3pm. Why not try out an introductory swim lesson, aqua aerobics session or some aqua jogging! Care to Drive-‘Care to Drive’ is a volunteer delivered transport initiative in which the Irish Cancer Society recruits & trains volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment to and from their hospital appointments. They are currently looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from Waterford Regional Hospital. The service is free to both the patient and the hospital with the Irish Cancer Society incurring all costs. Irish Blood Transfusion Service- The Mobile Clinic will visit Rivercourt Hotel, Kilkenny on Thursday September 27 and from Monday t. to Thursday October 1/4 from 4.30pm to 8pm. each day. An appeal to donate blood; to help with the increasing demand from hospitals and patients in the region.

Renewal & Responsibility-Empowering today’s Church for Ownership and Outreach. The first evening of this series took place last Monday. It was a great success. Nearly 250 people from Ossory and Waterford & Lismore were in attendance to hear theologian Rick Gaillardetz offer a challenging and hopeful message for today’s Church. South Kilkenny Historical Society-A Lecture; Title: ‘From Morse Code to Twitter’ with Speaker: Mr Padraig Laffan will be held on Thursday, September 27. at 8pm in the Mullinavat Parish Hall (opposite Church). This lecture traces the development of communications during Padraig ‘s working career - first as a ship’s Radio Officer, followed by 40 years with RTE’s outside broadcasting unit. Carrickshock U10-Our U10s recently completed their participation in the Mooncoin league with a great win over an impressive Glenmore team.They showed determination, resolve and no small amount of skill on the final day of competition last Sunday. The league ran over August and early September. Carrickshock played four matches in total, beating Tullogher and Slieverue but narrowly losing out to Piltown in our first outing. Our players are drawn from under 10s, 9s, and 8s. All of these great hurlers are improving and honing their talents day by day..definitely Carrickshock stars of the future! Death of Eunan Moore-Sympathy is extended to Frank Moore and his family Of Lawcus Fields on the recent death of Frank’s Father Eunan. He had been unwell for some months.He lived in Roxboro, Kilcar, Co Donegal . His remains were removed to St Columbas Church Carrick and burial took place in adjoining cemetery.
