Blood donors honoured at ceremony

Blood donors from Kilkenny were among those to be honoured at an Irish Blood Transfusion Service awards ceremony in Carlow’s Seven Oaks Hotel on April 1.

Blood donors from Kilkenny were among those to be honoured at an Irish Blood Transfusion Service awards ceremony in Carlow’s Seven Oaks Hotel on April 1.

Donors from Carlow, Waterford, Wexford, Laois, Wicklow, Kildare and Offaly also attended the ceremony.

A hundred blood donors received their Gold Drop Awards for donating 50 units, and six donors received their Porcelain Pelicans for donating 100 units. The presentations were made by IBTS ambassador Sharon Ní Bheoláin.

South East area manager Miriam O’Neill paid tribute to the donors for their outstanding generosity and commitment in giving blood over many years, and she thanked them on behalf of the many patients who benefited from their of gift of blood.
