Fr Mark Condon and Dean Katharine Poulton celebrated a blessing of the new extension at Drakelands House on December 10 with a remembrance service for all who have lived at the home over the past 14 years.

All residents were fondly remembered during the service and over 250 relatives were in attendance on the day.

The blessing of the new extension was an important stage in the opening of the new 31 beds for the proprietors Chris and Anne Fleck-Byrne, who together with the staff, residents and friends provided a warm welcome and reception to all relatives.

The extension will officially open on January 9 and a waiting list has already commenced. The new part of the building includes large viewing lounges overlooking the country and city, rooftop garden, enclosed courtyard garden and a bar. The new building is designed to complement the existing house and join the old and the new sections of the building.

Directors Chris and Anne worked with their design team to ensure the building would allow for continuity of the provision of personable care whilst increasing capacity, and they are very pleased with the results.
