GREAT 60TH - For a change the tables were turned on Teresa Hetherington. The Market Street woman has been to the fore in so many voluntary projects in the town but she got some shock when family and friends joined to organise a surprise 60th birthday for her in Shortalls Lounge on Saturday night. A great night was had by all.

FOLK CHOIR - Castlecomer Folk Choir have resumed, practice is every Monday at 8 p.m. in the Primary School. New members are most welcome.
COLLECTION - The Annual Church Door collection in aid of Ossory Social Services will be taken up at all masses in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Last year expenditure was in excess of €250,000 on various projects such as Bishop Birch Training Institute ; Counselling & Care Services ; Family Holiday Projects ; Support Services for the Elderly ; Material Aid for Families in Distress ; Meals on Wheels Service . Please be generous.
HARVEST THANKSGIVING - Castlecomer Union of Parishes invites you to their ecumenical celebration of Harvest Thanksgiving in the Colliery Church at 3.30pm on Sunday October 7th. The preacher is the Very Rev Robert MacCarthy.
LIBRARY LATEST - Children who took part in our Titanic Art Competition can see their work on display from Oct 3rd to 13th. Childrens author Debbie Thomas will visit the Library on Wednesday October 10th The Library will once again act as a drop off point for the Xmas Shoebox Appeal, closing date Nov 10th. Authors Paul Murray and Val Mulkerins will visit John’s Quay for the Peregrine Readings on October 17th The Nattering Knitters meet on Thursday mornings and are currently knitting little items for the Neo Natal Unit St Luke’s Hospital. All are welcome to join this group. “We’re just MAD about Books” kids book group will meet in the Library on Tuesday Nov 7th at 3.30. All boys and girls aged 8-12 are welcome!
CLASSES OPEN TO ALL - Log on and learn classes will be available for FREE in the Castlecomer Community School. It is open to any ages and everyone is welcome. The classes will take place on Wednesday every week at 11:20 until 12:20 .
