This year, an exciting date is being added to the diary with the launch of Yulefest, a unique festival destined to make Kilkenny the perfect place to take time out this Christmas and rediscover the magic of the season.
This December, we are being invited to indulge the senses and step into the wonder of Yulefest, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Stroll down the beautifully adorned cobbled streets rich in the scents and sounds of a bygone time, discover some unique handmade crafts to delight loved ones under the tree, savour the finest artisan food in the markets and restaurants and surround yourself in the wonder of Christmas with a brand new enchanting festival of music, food, craft and entertainment. Yulefest Kilkenny begins December 2nd and runs throughout the month with a focus on events during the three main weekends.
The festival will reawaken spirits past and present, featuring a Winter Wonderland at Butler House Gardens next to the Kilkenny Design Centre and National Craft Gallery; the Christmas Experience at MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre; Christmas on the Hill at Cillín Hill featuring Kilkenny on Ice; An Enchanted Christmas at Castlecomer Discovery Park, Rothe House Craft Market and artisan Food Market at Grace’s Castle and pop-ups like the renowned Made in Kilkenny on Parliament Street and Taste of Kilkenny at Rothe House. From Santa experiences to Toy soldiers to Cartoon Saloon workshops and movie screenings…there are delights for kids of all ages!
Throw in a packed program of stunning music and entertainment which includes a special performance by Lisa Hannigan in the sacred space of St. Canice's Cathedral and Caoimghín Ó Raghallaigh and Cormac Begley in St John's Priory; music and theatre events at the newly-restored Medieval Mile Museum and much more.
